HOSTING IS AS EASY AS 1,2,3
1. INVITE
Invite your friends to come to your house for a dinner and discussion series around modern-day slavery and Jesus.
2. GATHER
Each week:
a. Your friends gather where you can eat. You love them well and serve them dinner.
b. You watch a quick video.
c. Have a conversation. Share perspectives and hear how others process the topic.
3. ENGAGE
After the 4 weeks, everyone is challenged to ‘engage with Jesus’ and ‘engage in the fight to end slavery’ in some way.
1. Start Here
NOTE: Make sure you have already registered to host. This will ensure you get access to all the resources you need to pull off a great conversation, including videos and MVP support.
-This is going to be great. Way to step out in faith!
-If you are in a campus ministry, first talk to your leadership. You’ll want to work together to coordinate and plan timing.
-Consider asking someone to help you host.
-Watch ‘How to be an outstanding host’ video
2. Planning & Prep
-Pray for changed lives.
-Pick a time that works for you, your guests, and the rhythm of your club, if applicable. Plan for 4 weeks.
-Brainstorm 5-15 people who might be interested in this. Ideally, invite people who might hold different viewpoints.
-Use social media to make a more open invitation.
-Invite and make it as personal as possible.
3. Day Of Meal
-Send a reminder text to guests.
-Prepare your space. How can you make it clean, comfortable, and welcoming? Think about A/V logistics.
-Print discussion questions. Familiarize yourself with starter video.
-Prepare the meal. Who is going to help you?
4. Feedback & Follow up
-Print and pass out feedback cards.
-Take a pic of these cards and share with Justice & Jesus design team.
-Keep the conversation going. Justice & Jesus meals are designed to kickstart conversations beyond the dinner. Pray and ask God for wisdom.
